With summer finally reaching Cape Town the lure of the long walk on beaches arises and one of the best is the walk to Kakapo shipwreck situated on the beautiful long stretch of beach between Noordhoek and Kommetjie.
I’m not sure what is so appealing about shipwrecks maybe it’s the mystery and strange loneliness of what was once a powerful ship now just rusting away…
… or perhaps it’s just the beautiful colours created by that decay against the sand.
Either way it’s a great walk and a nice change from tanning tourists in the small bay beaches that surround Cape Town.
For a nice walk along the beach start at Noordhoek and walk to your left along the beach it’s about a 30 min walk just be careful it gets very windy.
